About Me:

Over the years her leadership has allowed her to serve as President of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Cultural, Educational, Employment Committee of Crozer Chester Medical Center and Vicinity; Volunteer committee member with the Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County, Inc.; Mentor with Home Life Management, Wilmington, Delaware; Volunteer with American Diabetes Association; Youth Care Worker for Upward Bound Math/Science Summer Program; Facilitator and speaker with adjudicated and pre-adjudicated teen girls at Project Stay Free located in Wilmington, Delaware. She has also implemented, organized and facilitated women, youth and senior citizen groups. In 2003, Karen chose to attend Delaware Technical & Community College and majored in Human Services. While attending Delaware Tech she was one of the first students to participate in the study abroad program to Turkey and the first student to implement and organize an internship abroad to Ghana, West Africa. Seeing a need during her trip to Turkey inspired her to organize a textbook drive in which over 1,000 textbooks and 50 computers were collected for Turkey college students. On July 10, 2006, Karen traveled to Ghana, West Africa going above and beyond the requirements of her final internship for her degree. Part of her itinerary included interning with women and children at the Liberian Refugee Camp in Ghana, an orphanage, and the Department of Children under the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs. After completing her coursework in spring 2006, Karen deferred graduation until May 2007 in order to arrange and schedule the trip to Africa. To help with financing Karen organized a fundraiser to cover some of the cost incurred. The choice to organize a fundraiser was decided to be an example for future students desiring to do an internship abroad. The purpose was for future students to know if college funds were not available, your dream is still possible and attainable. Once her internship was completed, the day before her departure, Karen sold the vehicle purchased used for travel during her internship to purchase books and supplies for the women and children at the Liberian Refugee Camp. A craftsman was also hired to build blackboards for several classrooms on the camp. She continues to personally assist men, women and children in Africa with education and apprenticeships. Karen’s vision, dedication, commitment and perseverance have earned her honors and recognition in her course of studies. Karen graduated Summa Cum Laude (highest honors) 2005 Human Services Studies and Summa Cum Laude 2007 with an Associate in Applied Science. Honors and recognition also for Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges, Delaware All-State Academic Team, Distinguished Alumni Award, President’s List, The National Dean’s List, The National Scholars Honor Society, Academic Excellence Award, New Castle County Alumni Association, The Children’s Choice Bridge Builder Award in recognition of commitment to ”Bridge Building within the Community” and Montclair Who’s Who in North America 2009 – 2010 Honored Member. Leadership positions held during Karen’s curriculum at Delaware Tech included President of Sigma Kappa Delta National English Honor Society, Member Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, Vice-President of Fellowship Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, and Member of the Human Services Club. Karen’s vision is vast. From vision to reality, K L Ross Enter-priSes was birthed in July 2008 devoted to helping empower individuals especially youth. Karen is motivated and committed to making a difference not only nationally, but internationally as well. She is an author, speaker, consultant, social activist, philanthropist and entrepreneur. Karen recently competed and self-published her first book - "Birth the Treasure Within" - Believe in yourself, believe in your greatness, empower yourself. It is an inspirational workbook / journal with a message of living to your authentic self. Karen uses her voice to speak and inspire individuals and groups to create a mindset of worth and wellness. "If I can impact one life, that is my reward" -Karen L. Ross
